The sleekness of modern computer art, variety of attractive colors, and savvy typography gradually faded into obscurity and I suddenly turned my focus toward something that was oddly becoming more fascinating. Over a short time, it gradually became about the cardboard shell that envelops bulk amounts of products during transport protecting the valuable contents beneath the surface. The decals on shipping boxes commonly bear visual information that can communicate the most basic instructions only meant to engage the logic of the essential worker. Because of my concerns regarding labor, producer-consumer relations, product origins, and ecological issues over the past two years, I have built a collection of materials and food retail industry-based iconography.
